Our Story

Raye the Label began in a season of becoming.

I'm a first-time mum, creative, proud Aboriginal woman of the Kombumerri People, and an artist at heart. Long before Raye, I spent five years studying marketing, graphic design, and the arts, always drawn to creativity, storytelling, and thoughtful design.

After graduating, I stepped into the corporate world, where I spent almost eight years building my career, chasing goals, and climbing the ladder. It was a chapter that taught me so much, but somewhere between the deadlines, structure, and routine, I slowly drifted away from the creative part of myself.

Then I became a mother.

The arrival of my son changed everything. Alongside the overwhelming love came the quiet identity shift that so many mothers experience. In the midst of postpartum, I found myself searching for something that still felt like me—a creative outlet beyond the routines, feeding schedules, and the feeling that pieces of myself had been put on hold.

So I started creating again.

Late nights with a sketchbook slowly turned into painting, designing, and building something that felt deeply personal. Creating became a way to reconnect with myself, to process the emotions of motherhood, and to honour the stories that had always shaped me.

My Aboriginal culture is woven into the heart of Raye the Label. It influences the way I create, the stories I tell, and the intention behind every collection. Every piece is designed to hold meaning—to celebrate connection, embrace softness, and honour the beauty found in everyday moments.

Raye the Label became more than a creative outlet. It became a reminder that motherhood doesn't mean losing who you are. Sometimes, it's where you begin to find yourself again.

Behind the Name

Raye the Label was built from emotion long before it ever became a business.

The name Raye holds a deeply personal place in our family's story. Before welcoming our son earth-side, we experienced pregnancy loss, the kind of loss that quietly changes you forever. We always said that if we were blessed with a daughter, her middle name would be Raye.

Although that dream took a different path, the name remained. In many ways, this brand became a tribute to the babies who came before, while honouring the strength it took to keep moving forward and embrace the life we now hold so closely.

To us, Raye represents the quiet balance of softness and resilience.

What began as late-night sketches slowly evolved into a brand created with intention, inspired by motherhood, emotion, art, and the beauty found in everyday moments. Built on the Gold Coast, after years of moving throughout North Queensland and finding home in different places, Raye the Label reflects the version of myself I found again through creating.

This brand is for the mothers rediscovering themselves.

For the women learning to hold both grief and joy.

For those seeking beauty that feels meaningful, personal, and real.

Raye the Label is more than what we create. It is a reflection of the journey that shaped us, and an invitation to honour your own story, too.
